Located about halfway between New York and Florida, Blacksburg is centrally located on the east coast, yet still a day’s drive from metro Chicago and other points west.
By air: Attendees should fly into the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA), approximately 45 minutes from Blacksburg.
Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport offers a variety of major airlines to choose, including Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines, and that allows you to get from your destination to the airport closest to the Virginia Tech campus. Many domestic and international gateways are just one stop from Roanoke and include cities such as Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, NYC/LaGuardia, Philadelphia, St. Petersburg/Clearwater and Washington, D.C.
Several car rental companies are available at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport. Please visit the airport website for a listing of car rental companies. Virginia Tech has scheduled several shuttle buses to transport attendees back and forth from Virginia Tech and the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport.

The shuttle fee is $20.00 (USD) per person each way. Pre-registration is required for all shuttles. No shuttles can be arranged after the registration cut-off date of May 31, 2016.
Please gather your luggage and wait for our bus to pick you up at the curb at your assigned time. One of our volunteers will be in the airport in a blue shirt to greet and assist you.

By car: Virginia Tech is easily accessible from major interstates in southwest Virginia and is close to major cities including Washington D.C. (3.5 hours), Charlotte, NC (2.5 hours), and Raleigh Durham, NC (3 hours).
On-Campus Parking: Parking for all participants is complimentary for the duration of the conference June 18th to June 22nd. Parking is available in the Perry Street Garage as well as the Duck Pond Road Lot (aka The Cage).
ASV Travel Award
The ASV sponsors a limited number of travel awards to defray travel costs to the Annual Meeting. Travel award applications must be submitted by 11:59 pm on Monday, February 1.

No application will be accepted by mail. Please follow the instructions carefully. You will be required to "paste" an exact copy of the abstract you electronically submitted through FASEB, including all authors and their affiliations, into your travel grant application and provide the confirmation number you were assigned upon final submission. (Note: The Teachers of Undergraduate Students travel grant applications are excluded from this requirement.) The following individuals may qualify for travel awards:
- Graduate/undergraduate students in virology
- Postdoctoral fellows studying virology
- Medical virology fellows or junior faculty who have received their M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degrees
- Teachers of undergraduate students
- Latin American virology scholars
Graduate students, undergraduate students and postdoctoral fellows must be current (dues paid for 2016) members of ASV or have applied for membership by 11:59 p.m., Monday, February 1, 2016 to be eligible for these awards. The deadline for submission of all applications is February 1, 2016. NOTE: All travel award applicants will be notified by email of their award result in early April from the ASV Secretary-Treasurer's office.
